History

The preferred habitat of the Iberian Lynx is the Mediterranean woodlands and Maquis shrublands where they subsist mainly on a diet of European rabbit. Because of the declining population of these rabbits, the Lynx species itself has suffered immensely, with its population dwindling to less than 100 at the turn of the 21^st century. But thanks to conservation efforts, their population has steadily risen to over 1000 in 2021, which gives the people of Spain hope for the future of their beloved wild cat.
