There are two different reverse designs for the 2021 American Eagle Designer Set. The Type 1 coin has the original heraldic eagle created by John Mercanti. This coin shows the M mint mark as well. The Type 2 coin has a new reverse design of a soaring eagle by Emily Damstra. This coin has the S mint mark on the reverse. Both reverse designs symbolize the past and future of this series.
