The American Eagle Silver Coin has experienced unprecedented levels of demand since early 2020. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting surge in demand for precious metals resulted in the US Mint struggling to both protect its workforce and meet the demand for the coveted silver coins. As such, the Philadelphia Mint was enlisted for the first time in 20 years to help strike BU American Eagle Silver Coins on an emergency coining basis. Provident Metals now has perfect condition 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins available to you for purchase online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that was graded Mint State 70 by the PCGS. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster and bear no detracting flaws of any kind on the design elements or surface areas. The included First Strike label means the coins were received for grading within 30 days of issue by the US Mint.
Obverse
The obverse side of 2021 (P) American Eagle Silver Coins features Walking Liberty. This stunning design element was created by Adolph A. Weinman and originally used on the US Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. The image captures Liberty in left-profile relief as her figure walks from right to left across the design element toward the sun as it crests a mountaintop. She carries the branches of oak and laurel in one hand and reaches out toward the sun with her right hand. The American flag is draped around her figure in the design. Inscriptions include Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.
Reverse
On the reverse field of 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is the heraldic eagle of the United States. First designed in 1794, this is the modern version of the seal and was modified in 1986 by John Mercanti. It features a powerful bald eagle in front-facing relief as it supports the US national shield. The bird clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. A triangular cluster of 13 stars is featured above its head. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.
History
From 1986 to 1998, the San Francisco Mint was in charge of coining the American Eagle Silver Coin. Since 2001, it has been the job of the West Point Mint. The Philadelphia Mint briefly filled the role in 1999 and 2000, but stepped in again in 2020 and 2021 with emergency issues to help meet the increased demand for the coins.
