Obverse

The obverse side of 2021 Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Coins features a depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This structure is the primary building in the Temple of Heaven Complex. This design features on the obverse of the coins every year and offers a view of the building from the steps leading to its front doors. The inscription above the design is in Mandarin and identifies the nation of issue. The date mark of 2021 is found at the bottom.

Reverse

On the reverse of 2021 Chinese Panda Gold Coins is an image of a Giant Panda mother and cub. As the young cub climbs the trunk of a tree, its mother stands nearby lending support to its cub as it attempts to explore its independence by climbing the tree. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include 1 g Au .999 and the face value of 10 with the symbol for Yuan included.

History

Giant Pandas are distinctive species of bear that is impossible to confuse with another. The massive bears subsist largely on vegetation for its diet, with the bamboo plant making up 99% of its daily nutrient intake. The panda has patches of black-and-white fur throughout its body, with the faces often marked by white fur on the head with black patches around the eyes. The species is native to the central highlands of China. These coins represent the 38th release of the coin in this weight dating back to the 1983 debut of the 1/20 oz gold coin, the latter of which became the 1 Gram gold coin in 2016.
