Obverse

The obverse side of 2021 British Britannia 1/10 oz Gold Coins depicts Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile bust of the Queen is the fifth-generation version of her effigy to appear on the obverse of British coins. The design was created in 2015 by Jody Clark and depicts the Queen with the George IV State Diadem Crown. The effigy is set against a guilloche background field with inscriptions surrounding the design that include 10 Pounds, Elizabeth II, and D.G. Reg F.D.

Reverse

On the reverse face of 2021 British Britannia Gold Coins is an effigy of Britannia, the female personification of Britain. The design was created in 1987 by Philip Nathan and depicts her figure in side-profile relief as she wields a trident in her right hand and rests her left hand on a shield that has the Union Jack emblazoned upon it. Her left hand clutches an olive branch as it rests on the shield. The inscriptions on this side include Britannia, 2021, and 1/10 oz 999,9 Fine Gold. The background field has radiating lines of sunshine.

History

The British Britannia Series launched in 1987 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins. These 1/10 oz gold coins remained the smallest, most affordable coin in the series until 2013. In 2013, the Royal Mint of England added a 5 oz and a 1/20 oz gold coin to the series.
