Obverse

The Barbadian coat of arms is found on the obverse side of 2021 Barbados Trident Silver Coins. This design includes a shield at the center with a bearded fig tree and two Red Pride of Barbados Flowers, one in each of the corners. The shield is supported on the sides by a heraldic dolphin and a pelican. The knights helmet at the top has an arm extending upward that clutches two sugar cane stalks. The banner beneath reads Pride and Industry, the national motto of Barbados. The date mark is split on either side of the design element as 20 and 21, with a smaller trident head under each. The only other inscription is Barbados along the bottom rim and the design field is surrounded by a beaded border.

Reverse

For the reverse field of 2021 Barbados Trident 1 oz Silver Coins, the mint features a large trident head. The national symbol of Barbados, the trident head is proudly displayed on the blue-and-yellow national flag. This years design features a new background visual behind the trident. This year features a calm central circle with concentric rings of tight, wavy lines. Each new ring sends the waves in a different direction. Inscriptions on this side read One Troy Ounce, 999 Fine Silver, and One Dollar.

History

This is the fifth issue of the Barbados Trident Silver Coins, and the fifth change to the background visual on the reverse. However, it is the third time that tight, wavy lines have been used. Each use of this type of wave motion has, however, offered its own variation.
