All of the coins in this weight in the series come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. With an unlimited mintage, the Perth Mint will issue these coins through the end of 2021 to meet demand. Once the next design is ready for the 2022 release, production of this image will cease.

Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is shown in the obverse field of all 2021 Australian Koala 1 Kilo Silver Coins. The image of the Queen found on this face of the coin includes a right-profile bust of Her Majesty at the age of 89 as she wears the George IV State Diadem Crown. This impressive piece from the Crown Jewels includes 1,333 diamonds in its setting with a total weight of more than 300 karats. Inscriptions include Elizabeth II, Australia, and 30 Dollars.

Reverse

A sleeping koala is featured in the reverse design element on the 2021 Australian Koala Silver Coin. The design from Monique Reeves shows the koala at the crook of a tree as it does its most frequent activity: taking a nap. The koala is a marsupial species native to the Australian continent that sleeps up to 20 hours per day. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read Australian Koala, 2021 1 Kilo 9999 Silver, and a P mint mark from the Perth Mint.

History

The Australian Koala Silver Coins debuted in 2007 with a 1 oz silver option. In 2008, 1/2 oz, 10 oz, and 1 Kilo coins were added for investors to purchase as well. From 2008 to 2015, all four options were struck annually. As of 2016, only the 1 oz and 1 Kilo coins are issued.
