History

Satanic Leaf-Tailed geckos are a true novelty in the Uroplatus world. In fact, Belgian naturalist George Albert Boulenger went so far as to call these creatures mythical. Among their unique features are their leaf-like tails, which help them blend in with their environment. Equally

compelling are their eyes, which resemble fire and have unusual, spiked ridges along the edges. Hence the allusion to Satan. An overlooked aspect of their eyes though is the fact that they have no eyelids. So instead, they use their extremely mobile tongues to clear away any debris that obstructs their vision.
