Obverse

Reverse

On the reverse, these coins showcase two different designs. The Type 1 version carries the original heraldic eagle image by John Mercanti, with a shielded eagle holding arrows and an olive branch. The Type 2 design, introduced in July 2021, presents Emily Damstras modern takea bald eagle soaring in flight carrying an oak branch in its talons. The inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, and ONE DOLLAR.

History

Midway through 2021, the US Mint transitioned from the Type 1 to the Type 2 design. Type 1 coins were struck through June, after which the Mint halted production to change over the coining dies. Production resumed in July with the debut of the updated reverse design to mark the series anniversary.
