An all-new image of the American bald eagle graces the reverse of 2021 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Type 2 Coins. This portrait of the head of the bald eagle offers incredible detail in the physical characteristics of the bird, including the layered feathers in its plumage. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 10 DOLLARS.
History
The all-new design on the reverse of these American Eagle Gold Type 2 Coins comes from Jennie Norris. A member of the US Mint Artistic Infusion Program, this is her first major contribution to American coinage and it was chosen from a group of more than 30 possible designs to serve as the new eagle design on the coins.
