Obverse
The obverse of 2021 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins bears a depiction of Lady Liberty. In this design, Liberty is shown as a confident figure walking toward the viewer holding a large torch in her right hand to light the way, and carrying an olive branch in her left hand as it is extended to her side. Rays of sunshine emerge on the horizon behind her figure with a ring of 50 stars around the element. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include Liberty and 2021.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2021 American Eagle Gold Coins, you will find the design of a family of American bald eagles. Miley Busiek developed this design in 1986 exclusively for this series. The image here shows a male eagle flying to the nest as a female eagle shelters a hatchling under her wing. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and 1/4 oz. Fine Gold 10 Dollars.
History
By mid-2021, a first-ever new reverse design will feature on the 2021 American Eagle Gold Coins. The only previous design change in the series was the 1992 switch to Arabic numerals from Roman numerals in the date mark inscription.
