History

The new design from Jennie Norris that now features on the American Eagle Type 2 Gold Coin represents the first design refresh in the history of the series. The only design alteration that has occurred on the coins to date was the shift in 1992 to Arabic numerals for the date marks from the previously used Roman numerals.
