Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse side of 2020 Tokelau Chronos 1 oz Silver Coins. This iconic portrait is the 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley created for the Royal Mint of England. The design shows Her Majesty in right-profile relief wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include 1 oz Fine Silver 999, 2020 split on either side of the Queens portrait as 20 and 20, and Elizabeth II Tokelau at the bottom. There is a textured background to this field of the coin with a feather arranged in a figure eight, or infinity symbol, at the bottom.

Reverse

For the reverse design element, the 2020 Tokelau Chronos Silver Coin comes with an ornate clock design. The elegant, detailed hands of the clock point to five minutes to 12, with a smaller field at the center replicating the hour marks and bearing a third hand counting the seconds in each minute as the clock moves. Inscriptions here are limited to Ag, Chronos, and 6 Dollars.

History

The Tokelau Chronos 1 oz Silver Series is a unique release from the Pressburg Mint. First issued in 2015, the series was originally available as a 1 oz silver round. The collection has long featured new reverse images of a clock, always set to five minutes to 12. In 2019, the Pressburg Mint issued the 1 oz silver bullion pieces as official Tokelau legal tender currency. Initially a 5 Dollar (NZD) piece, 2020 sees the face value increased to 6 Dollars.
