Obverse
On the obverse side of the 2020 Proof Australian Christmas Native Flowers Star-Shaped Silver Coins is Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in the sixth-generation effigy during her reign. The image of the Queen includes her neckline and shoulders for the first time on an Australian coin since 1966. These include a garland with native Australian flowers that encircles the design element with two Eastern Yellow Robins sitting on the garland. The Eastern Yellow Robin was once classified as two subspecies, but in the 1970s, Julian Ford argued for the combination of the two species as the calls, ecology, and behavior of the birds were so similar. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read Merry Christmas and P for the mint mark of the Perth Mint.
