Austrian Philharmonic Gold coins are the only major gold bullion coins on the European continent issued each year with denominations in the Euro currency. Although the coins are backed as legal tender in Austria, the value in Euro is not supported outside the nation of Austria. Provident Metals now offers you the 2020 Austrian Philharmonic 1/4 oz Gold Coin for purchase online.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with an individual plastic flip or a mint tube of 20 coins!
  • 32nd year of availability for the Austrian Philharmonic 1/4 oz Gold coin!
  • Contains 1/4 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of 25 (Euro) fully backed by the Austrian government.
  • The obverse includes the Great Pipe Organ.
  • On the reverse is a selection of musical instruments.

Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coins debuted in 1989 with these 1/4 oz gold coins and a 1 oz gold coin. Over the course of time, the series was expanded to feature four fractional-ounce coins in total. The 1/10 oz gold coin was introduced in 1991, followed by the 1/2 oz gold coin in 1994. In 2014, the Austrian Mint released a 1/25 oz gold coin in honor of the series 25th anniversary. It proved so popular the mint kept it as a regular issue.

Obverse

The obverse side of 2020 Austrian Philharmonic 1/4 oz Gold Coins has the design of the Great Pipe Organ. Constructed inside of the Musikverein, the Great Pipe Organ is used in performances by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The Musikverein is located in the Innere Stadt neighborhood of Vienna, the national capital.

Reverse

On the reverse face of 2020 Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coins is a collection of different musical instruments used by the members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The design field here includes a cello in the center with violins on either side, and a bassoon, harp, and French horn in the background.

History

The Austrian Philharmonic 1/4 oz gold coin was originally one of the best sellers in the series. Though it never outsold the 1 oz coin, it did outsell the 1/10 oz coin every year from the latter coins introduction in 1991 until 1997. Since that time though, it has not outsold the 1/10 oz coin.
