Obverse

Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse of all 2020 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins. This design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens with a torch in Libertys hand, an olive branch in the other, 46 stars around her figure, and the US Capitol Building at her feet. There were also rays of sunshine behind her figure in the original design. For American Eagle Gold bullion coins, there are 50 stars around her figure to mark the number of states currently in the Union.

Reverse

American bald eagles are depicted on the reverse of 2020 American Eagle Gold Coins. Designed by Miley Busiek in 1986, this imagery is exclusive to the American Eagle Gold Coins and shows a male eagle flying over the nest with a female eagle sheltering a young hatchling under her wing in the nest.
