The fourth coin of the 2019 ATB Series release went deep into the heart of Texas to the Alamo City. Though the Alamo remains the most popular former Spanish mission in the state, the city of San Antonio and its broader region are actually home to four other major Spanish missions protected by the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. Provident Metals currently offers the 2019-P Burnished ATB San Antonio Missions National Historical Park 5 oz Silver Coin to you for purchasing online.
When you purchase the 2019-P Burnished ATB San Antonio Missions National Historical Park 5 oz Silver Coin, Provident Metals has the original US Mint display box available for the coin. You will also receive the original Certificate of Authenticity from the mint. Burnished ATB Silver coins have an impressive matte finish that results from the blanks being polished in a drum with a burnishing medium before the coining process.
President George Washington is featured on the obverse of all the Burnished ATB 5 oz Silver Coins in the America the Beautiful Collection. The president is featured here in left-profile relief in a design originally created in 1932 by John Flanagan.
One of the more unique designs in the ATB Series, the reverse of the 2019-P Burnished ATB San Antonio Missions National Historical Park 5 oz Silver Coin recreates the appearance of a Spanish colonial Real coin. Once a Spanish colonial territory, this coin would have circulated in Texas at some point in the states history. It features a Greek cross separating four other images: arches and a bell from one of the area missions, the Spanish heraldic lion, waves from the San Antonio River, and wheat.
The Alamo is etched in the history of Texas as an independent republic and the modern state in the Union, but there are four other missions that were constructed in the region by Spanish Catholic missionaries to convert local residents. These missions line the San Antonio River heading into modern downtown San Antonio, but the park does not include The Alamo.
