Obverse

The obverse side of the 2019 Colorized Congo Giraffe 1 oz Silver Coin bears the image of the modern coat of arms for the Democratic Republic of Congo. This seal is similar to versions previously used by Zaire and Congo following its tumultuous transition in governments. While previous versions featured an elephant tusk on the right the leopard head, a fern leaf on the left, and crossed spears below, this version adopted in 2006 eliminates the fern leaf, puts the elephant tusk to the left, and has a single spear on the right.

Other elements of the design include the national motto in French as Justice, Paix, Travail, which translates as Justice, Peace, Labor. Congo is the most populous Francophone nation in the world.

Reverse

On the reverse face of 2019 Colorized Congo Giraffe 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find the image of a giraffe running. We can assume the giraffe is running for the exercise and not to evade a predator as we cannot see one. The background field and the giraffe all have brilliant colorization that brings the scene to life at dusk. The highest points of the sky remain blue, but as the sun sets it washes the background field in stunning hues of orange, yellow, and red. The giraffe has its traditional colorations of brown, white, and black, while the foreground is a dusty steppe in Africa with sparse vegetation.
