History

Apollo 11 lifted off from Merritt Island in Florida in July 1969 and spent eight days in total traveling to the moon, landing on the moon, and returning to the surface of the Earth safely. The astronauts splashed down in the South Pacific and were recovered by a US Navy carrier task force.
