These coins feature a double high-relief strike, which gives the 2 oz coins concave design fields and a more 3D look and feel. The finish on these coins is reverse proof. This means that the background has a strong matte look, while the design elements are mirrored.

Obverse

The reverse side of each coin features the image of Queen Elizabeth II. This image was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley. It is the fourth-generation image used of Queen Elizabeth II, and she is pictured in right-profile.

Reverse

On the reverse face, you will find the frightening image of Medusa. While legend has it that staring into Medusas eyes will turn you into stone, you will have a hard time resisting this stunning depiction.

Medusa was once a beautiful woman, but she was cursed by Athena and turned into a hideous creature with snakes instead of hair and the body of a snake from the waist down.
