Patriotism meets elegance on the 2017 sovereign silver eagle coin. The Adolph Weinman design features Lady Liberty walking towards a rising sun, wrapped in the American flag and grasping laurel branches in her arm. Liberty depicts hope and promise for the future. “LIBERTY” is inscribed along the top border of the coin, while “IN GOD WE TRUST” is displayed to the right of Liberty and “2017” below her.
The reverse of the American Silver Eagle features the inscription, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” at the top border of the coin. Below, is the famous John Mercanti silver eagle design, highlighted by the majestic bald eagle with wings outspread, holding a banner in its beak that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The 13 stars above the eagle represent the 13 original colonies of the United States. Bordering the bottom of the reverse is scrolled, “1 OZ FINE SILVER ~ 1 USD.”
Since 1986, the American Silver Eagle has offered investors a classic option for stacking sovereign bullion. Why didn?t I start stacking years ago?!! Only one small complaint...it takes so long for all the check clearing and shipping process. I was anxiously waiting, and waiting.
