History

Hermon Atkins MacNeils design was the shortest-lived image on the circulating denominations introduced in 1916. The Standing Liberty image was used on the quarter from 1916 to 1930, while the Mercury Dime image from Adolph A. Weinman was used on the dime from 1916 to 1944 and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin was from Weinman was on the 50-cent piece from 1916 to 1947.
