Featured as a part of the Shengxiao Collection from the prestigious organization of the Royal Mint, the iconic Lunar Series was introduced in 2014 with a Year of the Horse design, and continued in 2015 with the Year of the Goat. The widely popular and highly coveted Year of the Monkey coin is the third in a series of 12 coins that represent the first Lunar Series ever produced by the Royal Mint. 2016 was the year of the monkey and to mark the year The Royal Mint released a special Britannia silver coin with an incuse privy mark of a monkey on the rim.
Design and Packaging
When you look at the obverse side of this spectacular and utterly elegant coin, you will find the new design of powerful monarch and past historical legend, Queen Elizabeth II for the first time in almost 30 years. Her right-profile image is encircled by engravings that include her name and the face value of the coin in Great Britain Pounds.
For the reverse side of each coin, you will find the image of Britannia. Designed in 1987 by Philip Nathan, this visual persists across all weights and versions of the Britannia bullion coin series, from gold and silver to platinum. These coins also have a Year of the Monkey privy mark on the edge of the coins.
