Each 2016 ATB consists of five troy ounces of .999 fine silver, and celebrates one of the United States’ National Parks or Forests. Because each coin is manufactured and backed by the US government, and because the US Mint employs rigorous production quality and metal purity standards, each 5 oz silver ATB qualifies for a self-direct precious metals IRA.
The reverse of this five ounce silver coin features Shawnee National Forest’s Camel Rock. Natural vegetation features in the foreground, and a red-tailed hawk flies above. The reverse carries the inscriptions “SHAWNEE”, “ILLINOIS”, “2016”, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM”.
The obverse of this and other America the Beautiful quarter dollars features the profile of President George Washington, and the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “LIBERTY”, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, and “QUARTER DOLLAR”.
The Shawnee National Forest is located in Ozark and Shawnee hill of Southern Illinois, and is the largest plot of publicly owned land in the state of Illinois. Shawnee National Forest encompasses 280,000 acres, and was established in 1933.
