Increase the character and value of your Silver Bullion with this 2016 Silver Kookaburra from Provident Metals. Each silver coin was manufactured at Australia’s Perth Mint with one troy ounce of .999 fine silver – the weight and purity are government assured – and each is eligible for contribution into Precious Metals IRAs.
The reverse of each 1 oz silver coin features an intricately designed kookaburra perched upon a fence post that’s wrapped in barbed wire. The kookaburra is featured in the “laughing call” position with its head tilted up and its beak open. “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA” and “2016 1oz 999 FINE SILVER” are inscribed around the edge.
Kookaburras measure 11 to 17 inches in length, making them the largest birds of the kingfisher family. The carnivorous birds eat reptiles (including snakes), fish, mice, and even other smaller birds. They are native to Australia and New Guinea, and often live where trees and running water are plentiful.
The obverse portrays the familiar profile of Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. Her Majesty recently became the longest reigning British Monarch in September 2015 when she surpassed Queen Victoria, her great-great grandmother. Inscriptions around the portrait read “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA” and the coin’s denomination and year of release.
The Kookaburras are part of the Perth Mint’s Silver Kookaburra Series, which has released a Kookaburra coin annually since 1990. Each year, the highly anticipated coins are coveted by investors and collectors due to their quality production and design, worldwide appeal, and collectability.
