The Call of the Wild Series from the Royal Canadian Mint represents one of its purest gold coin releases. The Royal Canadian Mint regularly issues 24-karat gold coins with its Maple Leaf Gold Coin, but rarely issues coins with .99999 pure gold content. The collection features a shared reverse design element of radiating sound waves that mimic the call of each animal in the wild.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of all 2015 Canadian Howling Wolf 1/10 oz Gold Coins. This is the fourth-generation effigy from the Royal Canadian Mint and was designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. The right-profile portrait of the Queen depicts Her Majesty without a crown and it is the first design of a monarch without the crown on Canadian coins since the reign of King George VI.
Reverse
A howling wolf is the first artwork to feature in the Call of the Wild Series and features on the reverse of these 2015 Canadian Howling Wolf 1/10 oz Gold Coins. The wolfs head is in right-profile relief as it unleashes its haunting bellow out across the wilderness as a call to others in its pack.
History
The Call of the Wild Series features six designs in total as of 2019. After the release of the Wolf in 2014, the collection expanded with the 2015 Cougar, 2016 Grizzly, 2017 Elk, 2018 Golden Eagle, and the 2019 Moose.
Ordering
Your 2015 Canadian Howling Wolf 1/10 oz Gold Coin comes with a sealed assay card. The card encapsulates the coin with the Royal Canadian Mint logo on one face of the card and authentication information on the reverse. This includes the weight, purity, and metal content of the coin, with the signature of the Chief Assayer at the Royal Canadian Mint.
