There is no coin more coveted in any series of silver bullion, be it the investment-grade option or the collectible version, than the first coin design released. The massive 56-coin program known as America the Beautiful from the United States Mint started in 2010 and the first coin was available for Arkansas in the form of the Hot Springs National Park design. Right now, you can get the 2010 ATB Hot Springs 5 oz Silver Coin online at Provident Metals in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
If you purchase the 2010 ATB Hot Springs National Park 5 oz silver coin available in this listing, the item you receive comes with a near-perfect certification from the PCGS. Coins in Mint State 69 condition exhibit full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws present. Those flaws are limited to the areas outside of the primary focal points of the coin and consist of only minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
Obverse
President George Washington is depicted in left-profile relief on the obverse of the 2010 ATB Hot Springs 5 oz Silver Coin. Designed by John Flanagan in 1932, this portrait was updated for use on the ATB Series of silver coins for sale from the US Mint. Washingtons bust was added to the circulation quarter in 1932 to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth.
Reverse
The headquarters building for the Hot Springs National Park is featured on the reverse of each 2010 ATB Hot Springs 5 oz Silver coin. The building is shown in the background with a thermal fountain in front of it.
History
The Arkansas coin was the first released in the ATB Series. The release schedule in the ATB Series is not random, but rather is determined by the year in which a given park was established as a protected preserve. The area that is now Hot Springs National Park is, by far, the oldest in the United States. It was first established as a protected recreation area by Congress in 1832. It would be another 30 years before another region of the country earned such a distinction. Hot Springs was designated a National Park in 1921.
Ordering
These 2010 ATB Hot Springs 5 oz Silver Coins are available to you inside of a protective plastic slab and are recognized by the PCGS as PL bullion coins. PL stands for proof-like and indicates the presence of frosted elements within the strike.
