Although not the official symbol of China, the panda remains a beloved emblem among the nation. Considered an endangered species, most of the remaining pandas in the world reside in Chinese zoos or wildlife habitats. There are an estimated 1,500 pandas believed to be settled in China.
The obverse side of the one ounce coin features an image of two pandas sitting amongst bamboo stalks. Although the specific design of the panda changes with each Silver Panda coin issued every year, the panda itself continues to be a recurring image. The face value of the coin, 10 Yuan, along with “1 oz. Ag .999,” rim the outer edge of the round.
The reverse displays the date of mintage, 2011, along with a group of Chinese characters that translate into “The People’s Republic of China.” The Temple of China, a well-known architectural site in Beijing, is also engraved on the back.

At first I had my doubts about these coins even after hearing everyone else’s good comments, but when I got them in, I was taken aback by how beautiful these coins looked. They are a completely different looking coin from all the rest that are out there and has such a beautiful polish and proof-like areas on it. It also comes in it’s own plastic case (different from the regular ones you buy on ebay). These cases are slightly beveleved so the center of the coin is raises a bit and they appear stronger than the usual cases. I bought three this time around and I’m not selling them for anything.
