Obverse
Liberty is on the obverse side of 2010 American Eagle Gold Coins. This depiction of Lady Liberty is found in front-facing relief with her full-length figure clutching a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The other design elements include the U.S. Capitol Building, sun rays on the horizon, and a ring of 50 stars around the field. Inscriptions read LIBERTY and 2010.
Reverse
An American bald eagle family is featured in the reverse design of the 2010 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin. This design was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek and is exclusive to the American Eagle Gold Series. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 5 DOLLARS.
History
The highest mintage in the history of the American Eagle Gold Series came in 1999 when 2.75 million coins were sold in the 1/10 oz Series. Another distinction the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle holds is the highest annual mintage in 13 years in the series, including a run that started in 2014.
