As the United States Mint marked the 20th anniversary of its coveted American Eagle silver and gold bullion coins in 2006, it released the first-ever reverse-proof coin in the silver series. In addition to the debut of the Burnished American Eagle, the US Mint released a one-time commemorative coin with reverse-proof visuals for the first time in the history of the American Eagle Silver Series. Today, you have the chance to purchase near-perfect 2006-P Reverse Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
The 2006 release of American Eagle Silver Coins marked several high-water points in the series. The BU American Eagle Silver Coin issued in 2006 set the second-highest mintage to date in the series at that point with 10.676 million coins sold. The traditional proof coin sold 1.092 million coins, just the second date to exceed 1 million coins in a year and the last date mark to exceed that figure. It remains the second-highest mintage behind only the 1986 debut. In addition, the mint released a special Reverse Proof American Eagle Silver Coin for the first time to mark the 20th anniversary of the series.
On the obverse of 2006-P Reverse Proof American Eagle Silver Coins is a depiction of Walking Liberty. The image of Liberty shown here comes from Adolph A. Weinman and features Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon as it crests over a mountain peak. Liberty wears the American flag over her shoulders with branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. The inscriptions feature Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.
The reverse of the 2006 Reverse Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin features the heraldic eagle. A modern design from John Mercanti, this 1986 visual shows a powerful American bald eagle supporting the US national shield. The bird clutches arrows of war and an olive branch of peace in its talons. Above its head, there is a cluster of 13 five-pointed stars. The inscriptions here read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar, and the P mint mark.
This first-ever Reverse Proof American Eagle Silver Coin was released with this 2006 date mark. Subsequent Reverse Proof and Enhanced Reverse Proofs have been issued in this series in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2019.
2006-P Reverse Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins are available to you in near-perfect condition. Coins with a PR69 grade have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor flaws. These detracting flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines only. These flaws must be located outside the primary focal points.
