As is customary for modern coins of Australia, the obverse displays a portrait of Elizabeth II wearing a crown. The coin’s country of origin and denomination are displayed towards the periphery. The engraver’s initials of “IRB” appear directly underneath the Queen’s portrait.
To honor the Lunar Year of the Dog, the coin’s reverse displays a eagle standing in a path of grass. The year 2006 appears to the left while the chinese character for “dog” is placed to the right. The purity and fineness of the coin is engraved towards the bottom.
