Obverse

Walking Liberty is depicted on the obverse side of the 2006 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin. This depiction of Liberty featured here shows her figure in left-profile relief walking toward the sun with her right hand outstretched and her left hand carrying branches of oak and laurel. The American flag is shown fluttering in the breeze over her shoulders.

Reverse

The heraldic eagle of the United States is featured on the reverse of 2006 American Eagle Silver Coins. Designed first in 1792, this version of the heraldic eagle was created in 1986 by John Mercanti and comes with a front-facing bald eagle featuring the US national shield on its chest. The bird clutches the arrows of war in one talon and an olive branch of peace in the other.

History

The 2006 American Eagle Silver Coin had a total mintage of 10.676 million coins. This was, at the time, the second-highest mintage in the history of the series behind only the 1987 coin and its sale of 11.442 million coins. While the next year would see the coins dip in demand, two years later in 2008 the series would skyrocket to 20.583 million.
