History
The attack on Pearl Harbor occurred on December 7, 1941, and was designed to cripple the US Navy Pacific Fleet. While the attack damaged or destroyed countless ships, the US Navys valuable aircraft carriers were not at Pearl on the day and were able to help the US quickly pivot to launch attacks on Imperial Japanese islands in the Pacific.
