The designs on the American Eagle Gold Coins were created by Miley Busiek and revived from the early 20th century as created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The historic design once featured on the $20 Gold Double Eagle and now graces the American Eagle Gold series as of 1986. Proof American Eagle Gold Coins were initially produced by two different mints. The West Point Mint has issued the 1 oz gold coin in the series since its introduction in 1986. The fractional-ounce coins were produced by the Philadelphia Mint from 1987/1988 until 1993.

Obverse

On the obverse face of 1997-W Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins, you will find the image of Lady Liberty. This front-facing portrait captures Liberty walking away from Washington D.C. with the US Capitol Building at her feet. Her right-hand holds a large torch aloft as her left-hand clutches a large olive branch.

Reverse

The reverse side of 1997-W Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins comes with the image of American bald eagles. The design was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek specifically for use on this coin. It depicts an image of a male eagle flying over the nest as a female eagle guards over a hatchling in the nest.

History

Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins were introduced in 1987 by the United States Mint as the first of the three fractional-ounce coins. The 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins were introduced in 1988 to round out the series.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.

When will my order ship?

Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.

Can I choose the method of shipping?

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.

Will I need to sign for my package?

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.

What about International Orders?

Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
