The Austrian Philharmonic Series is a popular bullion coin collection from the Austrian Mint available since 1989. Following its debut at the end of the 1980s, the series has exploded from a two-coin gold collection to one that features five gold coins, a silver coin, and a platinum coin. Right now, you can get 1997 Austrian Philharmonic 1 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.

  • Arrives with an individual plastic flip!
  • 9th year of release in the Austrian Philharmonic Gold Series!
  • Limited mintage of just 408,300 gold coins!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • Bears a face value of 2,000 Schillings fully backed by the Austrian government.
  • Pipe organ inside the Musikverein features on the obverse.
  • Musical instruments are shown in the reverse.

With your purchase of the 1997 Austrian Philharmonic 1 oz Gold Coin, you will receive a coin that is housed in an individual plastic flip. The mintage of 408,300 gold coins in this series in 1997 was the third-highest mintage of the decade and the highest point the series would hit again until 2008.

In the obverse design of 1997 Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coins, the field features a majestic pipe organ. This organ is located in the Wiener Musikverein, which is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. Inscriptions include REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, 1 UNZE GOLD 999.9, 1997, and 2000 SCHILLING.

For the reverse face of the 1997 Philharmonic 1 oz Gold Coin, you will see a cornucopia of musical instruments used by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Included in this design are a Vienna horn, bassoon, harp, four violins, and a cello, which serves as the central focal point of the design. Inscriptions on this side include only WEINER PHILHARMONIKER.

The Austrian Philharmonic saw demand fall throughout most of the 1990s. The series did not see a bump in demand from the Y2K crisis at the end of the decade, unlike many other major programs from around the world.
