In the 1990s, the 1995 release of the Austrian Gold Philharmonic Series was the coin with the highest mintage, marking the series’ zenith in the final decade of the 20th century. During the same period, the series underwent considerable expansion with the introduction of two new weights. Today, you have the opportunity to get 1995 Austrian Philharmonic 1 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a protective flip!
  • 7th coin in the Austrian Philharmonic Gold Series!
  • Total mintage of 645,500 gold coins!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • The face value of 2,000 Austrian Schillings backed by the Republic of Austria.
  • On the obverse of the coin is the pipe organ of the Golden Concert Hall.
  • The reverse field features musical instruments.

Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coins debuted in 1989 with 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold coins available. In the 1990s, the series expanded two times. The first addition was the 1/10 oz gold coin in 1991. The next addition was the 1/2 oz gold coin added in 1994. No additional coins were introduced until 2014.

Obverse

The 1995 Philharmonic 1 oz Gold Coin’s obverse design features Thomas Pesendorfer’s portrayal of the pipe organ in the Golden Concert Hall, which is the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s principal performance venue and situated within the Musikverein. The inscriptions on this side include REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, 1 UNZE GOLD 999.9, 1995, and 2,000 SCHILLINGS.

Reverse

In contrast, the reverse design element of the 1995 Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coin features a cello at the center surrounded by violins, with a horn, bassoon, and harp completing the background design. The only inscription on this side reads WIENER PHILHARMONIKER.

History

While the 1990s was notable for the Austrian Philharmonic Series in terms of its ups and downs in demand, it was notable for another reason as well. In 1992, 1995, and 1996, the Austrian Philharmonic was the best-selling gold coin in the world. In 1990, it was the best-selling in Europe and the second-best-selling gold coin in the world.
