When the Kennedy Half Dollar Silver Coins were introduced by the United States Mint in 1964, it was the final year in which US currency was produced for circulation with 90% silver content. Starting in 1965, the dime, quarter, and half dollar coins were produced with less than 90% silver. In the case of the dime and quarter, the coins switched to cupro-nickel. Provident Metals now offers $100 Face Value bags of 1964 90% Silver Kennedy Half Dollars for you to purchase online.

The obverse face of the 1964 90% Silver Kennedy Half Dollars in this $100 Face Value bag includes a left-profile portrait of President John F. Kennedy. Created in 1962 by Gilroy Roberts, the design shows Kennedy from early in his term in office. The design field includes inscriptions of Liberty, In God We Trust, and 1964.

On the reverse side of 1964 90% Silver Kennedy Half Dollar Coins is a depiction of the presidential seal of the United States. Modified for this series, the design shows the American bald eagle with the olive branch of peace in one talon and the arrows of war in the other. The US national shield is on its chest with a banner in its beak that reads E Pluribus Unum. A ring of 50 stars encircles the central design with inscriptions of United States of America and Half Dollar.

The 1964 release of the Kennedy Half Dollar came just four months after President Kennedy was assassinated in office. His bust replaced the bust of Benjamin Franklin on the half dollar. The US Mint Chief Engraver at the time, Gilroy Roberts, created the bust of Kennedy on the obverse, while his Assistant Chief Engraver and later the 10th Chief Engraver, Frank Gasparro, created the modified presidential seal on the reverse.
