$10 Silver Certificate North Africa Notes can be purchased at the click of a mouse and delivered right to your door. The notes are protected in currency sleeves and will be in Very Fine condition. As such, you may note light soiling and various fold marks. These vintage notes are perfect for anyone intrigued by WWII and the diverse range of currency produced throughout Americas storied past.

Obverse

On the obverse side of 1934a Silver Certificate North Africa Notes there is a portrait of Alexander Hamilton. This design is based on the 1805 John Trumbull oil painting, which currently resides in New Yorks City Hall. You will note in the design that the serial number is listed twice, once on the left and once on the right. Also of note is the yellow Treasury seal, which is unique to the North Africa silver certificates.

Reverse

The reverse of 1934a $10 North Africa Notes contains a rendition of the US Treasury Building. This design was introduced in 1928 and is used only on the $10 bill. Its inclusion is in part due to the presence of Hamilton, who was the countrys first secretary of the treasury. The denomination of the note is included in each corner alphabetically and numerically. You will also see the words The United States of America, Ten Dollars.

History

Up until 1971, silver certificates were a unique form of currency that enabled individuals to exchange them for physical silver. However, when the silver standard was abandoned, they became standard legal tender no different than a Federal Reserve Note. Because these notes could be exchanged for physical silver during World War II, it was especially important that they did not fall into enemy hands. However, as a precaution, the US government included distinctive yellow Treasury seals in their design. In the event of an enemy invasion in the North African and European theatres, they could easily be demonetized.
