Following the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, Federal Reserve Bank Notes were issued by the US government between 1915 and 1934. The 1915-1918 series of notes featured large-format designs that were fairly inefficient when it came to printing the notes. In 1929, the Federal Reserve issued a sleek lineup of notes with all-new designs that helped pave the way for modern American currency. Today, you have the opportunity to get 1929 $10 Federal Reserve Bank Notes in Very Fine condition online from Provident Metals.

Note Highlights:

  • Ships to you in a plastic currency sleeve!
  • Inaugural issue of the re-formatted Federal Reserve Bank Note!
  • Arrives in Very Fine condition!
  • Includes brown serial numbers and Treasury seal.
  • Bears a face value of $10 (USD) backed by the United States.
  • The obverse field showcases Alexander Hamilton.
  • On the reverse side is a rendition of the US Treasury Building.
  • When buying multiple notes, it is possible to receive notes with matching or varied Reserve Bank seals.

When you purchase 1929 Federal Reserve Bank Notes in this Provident Metals listing online, you will receive a genuine piece of United States currency. The notes will arrive in plastic currency sleeves in Very Fine condition. As such, minor signs of circulation, such as soiling and folds, may be visible. These historic notes are great for collectors who are fascinated by the diverse range of notes printed throughout American history.

Obverse

On the obverse side of $10 Federal Reserve Bank Notes you will see a portrait of Alexander Hamilton. This design debuted in 1929 and is inspired by the 1905 John Trumbull oil painting. On both the left and right side of the note you will see the serial number in brown ink. Also included are the brown Treasury seal and the notes issuing bank.

Reverse

The reverse of 1929 $10 Notes features a rendition of the US Treasury Building. On all four corners, the notes denomination is listed both in alphabetic and numeric form. Youll also see the words The United States of America, Ten Dollars in the reverse design.

History

Federal Reserve Bank Notes were issued by the US government from 1915 to 1934. While early editions of these notes were printed in the large-size format, by 1929 they had all been reduced to the small size with brand-new designs. In addition to the $10 note, denominations of $5, $20, $50, and $100 were also made available. These notes deviated from the standard Federal Reserve Notes in that they were only backed by their issuing branch rather than all 12 Federal Reserve branches collectively.
