The US Eagle Gold Coin was the first major denomination issued by the US Mint. First struck in 1795, this trusted denomination grew to include four coin series by the 1850s with the $10 Eagle, $5 Half Eagle, $2.50 Quarter Eagle, and the $20 Double Eagle. After 1916, the production of new gold coins in the United States plummeted to a point where the $10 Eagle was struck on only five occasions between 1917 and 1933. The 1926 issue was one of two in the 1920s and the only one from the Philadelphia Mint in that decade. Right now, you can buy graded 1926 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.

With your purchase of these 1926 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins from Provident Metals, you receive a coin that earned a Mint State 63 certification from either the PCGS or NGC. Coins in this condition exhibit mint luster that is only slightly impaired with an overall attractive eye appeal for the coin and its designs. You may notice numerous small contact marks, a handful of heavier marks, and small hairlines that are visible without magnification.

Provident Metals selects your specific coin at random once your payment has been processed. We cannot guarantee whether the specimen you receive was graded by the PCGS or NGC. The grades are the same for all coins. If you buy more than one, the coins you receive could all have PCGS labels, NGC labels, or a mixture of both.

Obverse

On the obverse of 1926 Indian Eagle Gold Coins is Augustus Saint-Gaudens unique image of Liberty found only on the $10 US Eagle. The portrait of Liberty is a left-profile relief with a feathered headdress on her head. There is an arch of 13 stars over her head with 1926 inscribed below.

Reverse

The reverse of the 1926 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coin features a bald eagle. Saint-Gaudens bald eagle design shows a perched bald eagle on a sheaf of arrows wrapped with an olive branch. The inscriptions on this field of the coin read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and Ten Dollars.

History

The Indian Eagle Gold Coin was only struck twice in the 1920s. In 1920, the San Francisco Mint struck the coins. In 1926, the Philadelphia Mint struck the coins with a mintage of roughly one million. Of those 1 million coins, only 10% in total survive today, with only a small percentage of that 10% in Mint State conditions.
