The $10 Gold Eagle circulation coin from the United States Mint was struck regularly from 1795 to 1916. Following World War I, the US Mint irregularly issued each of the denominations in the US Eagle Series. For the Indian Eagle Gold Coin design series introduced in 1907, the only date mark issued by the Philadelphia Mint in the 1920s was the 1926 coin. Provident Metals now offers Mint State-graded 1926 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins to you for purchase online.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a protective plastic slab courtesy of the PCGS or NGC!
  • Lone date mark in the Indian Eagle Gold Series from the Philadelphia Mint in the 1920s!
  • Limited number of Mint State Indian Eagle Gold Coins from 1926!
  • Contains .48375 Troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Issued a face value of $10 (USD) by the government of the United States.
  • Bears a Grade of Mint State 62 from the Professional Coin Grading Service or the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • The obverse depicts Liberty with a feathered headdress.
  • On the reverse is an American bald eagle perched on arrows and an olive branch.
  • Please remember that there is the potential to receive coins with the same or varied grading house labels if you buy several.

When you purchase one of these 1926 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins at Provident Metals, you will receive an item with a Mint State 62 grade from either the PCGS or the NGC. A coin in this condition showcases impaired or dull luster, clusters of small contact marks in the primary and secondary focal fields, and a few scattered hairlines. Please note that Provident Metals selects all items for you once your payment has cleared.

As such, we cannot guarantee which grading house label you will receive. All coins available here have the MS62 grade. We will fulfill your order based on availability at the point that your payment has cleared. If you buy several coins, there is the potential to receive coins that have all PCGS labels, all NGC labels, or a mixture of both.

Obverse

The obverse of 1926 Indian Eagle Gold Coins features Lady Liberty with a feathered headdress. This design was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 and used only on the $10 Eagle Gold Coin. The design field includes 13 stars over her head and an inscription of 1926 beneath.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 1926 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coin is an American bald eagle. The eagle is shown at rest with its wings at its side. The bird is perched on a sheaf of arrows that is wrapped by an olive branch. Inscriptions on this field of the coin include United States of America, In God We Trust E Pluribus Unum, and Ten Dollars.

History

After 1916, $10 US Eagles were infrequently struck by the United States Mint and issued at various mint locations. The Philadelphia Mint only struck the $10 Indian Eagle once in the 1920s and that came in 1926. Some 1 million coins were issued, but only 10% are believed to survive today after most US gold coins were collected and melted down by the government after 1933.
