Introduced in 1878, the Morgan Dollar Silver Coins were produced by the United States Mint for 26 consecutive years before the coining of new silver dollars was halted for nearly two decades. In 1921, silver dollar coining resumed in the United States and the US Mint dusted off the Morgan Dollar design for one more run. Right now, you can get 1921 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins online from Provident Metals with a PCGS certification.

With your purchase of 1921 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins in this Provident Metals listing, you receive a coin that has earned a certification from the PCGS. Coins with a Mint State 63 grade exhibit slightly impaired mint luster. The coins will present with scattered small contact marks and a few heavier marks. It is also possible for coins of this grade to have a few hairlines visible without magnification and other detracting scuffs or flaws.

Obverse

The obverse side of 1921 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins includes a bust of Lady Liberty. Created by George T. Morgan in 1878. The left-profile bust is inspired by Classical Era-art and features Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap and a coronet. The coronet has an inscription of Liberty, while the other inscriptions on this face include E Pluribus Unum and the date mark of 1921.

Reverse

On the reverse field of the 1921 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin is a depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. Also designed by Morgan, this version of the heraldic eagle shows the bird clutching the arrows of war and olive branch of peace, but lacks the US national shield on its chest. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read United States of America, In God We Trust, and One Dollar.

History

The 1878 introduction of the Morgan Dollar brought silver dollar coining back to the United States after a five-year hiatus. The coin replaced the Seated Liberty Dollar design that had been in use since 1836. The Morgan Dollar would go on to be struck through 1904, and once more in 1921. The 1921 release of the Morgan Dollar was a stop-gap measure until the US Mint had a new design for the silver dollar, with the Morgan Dollar images released from January until mid-December 1921. In late December, the US Mint began striking the new Peace Dollar Silver Coin image.
