One of the most significant issues of the Morgan Dollar Silver Coin came in its last year of availability in 1921. After no coins were issued in the US silver dollar program from 1905 to 1920, the US Mint was authorized through Congressional legislation in 1918 to resume silver dollar coining. It did so in 1921 with the Morgan Dollar design. Right now, you can buy 1921 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins online from Provident Metals in certified condition.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a protective PCGS or NGC plastic slab!
  • Final Morgan Dollar Silver Coin date!
  • Features the highest mintage of any Morgan Dollar date mark!
  • Limited number of certified coins available!
  • Contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content.
  • Bears a face value of $1 (USD) fully backed by the American government.
  • Issued a Grade of Mint State 62 by the Professional Coin Grading Service or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Liberty on the obverse.
  • Heraldic eagle on the reverse.
  • Please keep in mind you could get coins with the same labels if you buy several coins.

With your purchase of the 1921 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin with a Mint State 62 certification. Coins in this condition exhibit impaired or dull mint luster. Clusters of small contact marks and a few larger marks are possible, both within and outside the primary focal points. Hairlines may be noticeable and large, unattractive scuff marks are possible.

Obverse

Liberty is on the obverse of the 1921 Morgan Dollar Coin. This left-profile relief was created in 1878 by George T. Morgan and shows Liberty wearing the Phrygian cap with a laurel wreath and coronet crown on her head. There are 13 stars on the border of the design field, with inscriptions of E PLURIBUS UNUM and 1921 on this side.

Reverse

The heraldic eagle features on the reverse of 1921 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins. In this design, the bald eagle is in front-facing relief with its wings flexed to the sides and a laurel wreath around the bird. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.

History

In 1921, the United States Mint issued these Morgan Dollar Silver Coins from January up to December 27th. The next day, production began on the Peace Dollar Silver Coin, the last silver dollar design used in circulation.
