The Barber Coinage is the only series of circulation coin designs from the United States Mint remembered for the man who designed them and is also one of the few to offer an identical design across various denominations. Provident Metals now offers you a $100 Face Value listing of 90% Barber Silver Half Dollars.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a plastic bag of 200 coins!
  • Issued between 1892 and 1915!
  • Contains .3575 Troy oz of actual silver content per coin.
  • Issued a face value of $.50 (USD) per coin by the government of the United States.
  • Obverse includes a bust of Liberty in left-profile relief.
  • Reverse bears the heraldic eagle based on the Great Seal of the United States.
  • Average circulated condition.

When you purchase this $100 Face Value of 90% Barber Silver Half Dollars, you will receive a total of 200 Barber Silver Half Dollar coins in a small plastic bag. Each individual coin is in average circulated condition indicating the coins have medium to heavy wear with obvious wear on the high spots of the design, but you can still make out the details of the strike.

Obverse

The obverse of all 90% Barber Silver Half Dollar coins features a left-profile bust of Liberty. This depiction of Liberty offers masculine features and is done in a Greco-Roman artistic style. Liberty wears a crown wreath and is surrounded by inscriptions of United States of America and a date mark.

Reverse

For the reverse, 90% Barber Silver Half Dollar coins use a modified vision of the heraldic eagle of the United States based on the Great Seal of the United States. The eagle has the heraldic shield of the nation on its chest, an olive branch in its right talon, and arrows in its left. A ribbon through its beak reads E Pluribus Unum and there is a cluster of 13 stars above its figure.

History

The Barber Coinage designs featured the same bust of Liberty on the circulation dime, quarter, and half dollar from 1892 to 1915. The designs were created by Charles E. Barber, 6th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. Barbers designs were not well received at the time and are not considered today to be one of the more sought-after historic US coin designs among collectors.

Ordering

Keep in mind that this plastic bag will contain a total of 200 individual 90% Silver Barber Half Dollars. Each coin has 90% silver content and 10% copper. Random date marks will be included in the bag and stretch from 1892 to 1915.
