Designed by Augustus Saint-Gauden, the obverse focuses on Lady Liberty as she steps out from rays of sunshine. She holds up a torch in one arm, and an olive branch in the other. “LIBERTY” is inscribed within a ring of stars around the rim, along with the year of issue. The dates of this product will be random and may or may not include a variety.
The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, features a male Bald Eagle flying back to his nested family with an olive branch in his talon. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” along with the weight and denomination.
The first annual American Gold Eagle was produced in 1986, after the Gold Bullion Act of 1985 kicked off the program. The gold used to make these coins is sourced directly from the US, with additional metal alloys for stability and strength. Gold Eagles have since become the most widely traded gold bullion coin in the world.
Individual coins ship in a plastic flip. Multiples of 20 ship in a plastic tube. Add an Air-Tite Plastic Capsule to your order to protect your coins. Please note that the coins may be in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, but it is possible for uncirculated and even proof specimens to come in this lot.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. In three orders of random-year AGEs from Provident, I’ve gotten all 2013 coins in perfect condition (to my eyes anyway). None of the orders were for 20 coins (which would be packed in a coin tube), but I received an empty U. S. Mint coin tube with the third order as an unexpected bonus. Nice extra touch, and I’ll use it if I decide to take the AGEs out of their coin flaps and inner protective wrapping. Provident has the lowest price I found for random-year AGEs. I’ll be back for more, and probably go for some fractionals despite the higher premium per ounce on smaller denominations.

I’ve seen comments about the preference for .9999 purity over our 22-karat variety, but I think these folks are missing the point, as I’ve seen the results of the difference already.
American Gold Eagles can clink and clank together forever without showing serious “abuse” . . .but my recently-purchase Howling Wolf from Canada’s “Call Of The Wild” series already has a scratch across the face that can never be removed, because of the “purity” of the gold, thus the SOFTNESS of it.
Though I have a few Canadian and Australian coins I bought for the beauty of their designs, I’ll be sticking mainly with American Gold Eagles for “stash-and-cash” purposes simply because

Purchased 6 Eagles. Description says “uncirculated”. I received coins from 1989, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2 from 2010. Coins don’t appear uncirculated. Some are marked with fine scratches all over the coin and several have deep scratches. Looks like rough handling wear. It is Saturday and I have to wait until Monday to reach customer service. I am hoping I can pay to upgrade to 2013s. Not worth the savings. Don’t risk it. Buy 2013s. I have many transactions with Provident and this is the first problem I have encountered. Hopefully it will be resolved.

Like the Krugerrand these are durable since they are only 22kt and not solid gold like the Maple Leaf or Kangaroo. I think they are better looking than the Krugerrand. The downside is you will pay more for Eagles than the other coins. On the other hand they are recognized world wide.
