The story of Medusa starts with a beautiful maiden. Medusa was one of the three Gorgon sisters, beautiful sisters with golden hair and fair skin. Medusa was a priestess in the temple of Athena. One of the vows a priestess of Athena had to take was a vow of celibacy. The god of the sea, Poseidon, seduced Medusa and she broke her vows of celibacy in the temple of Athena, angering the goddess.
