This circulation gold coin was available from the United States Mint from 1795 to 1804 in two different Turban Head designs. The longest-running was the Liberty Head, or Liberty Coronet, from 1838 to 1907. This Indian Head design was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens at the same time he developed the iconic Liberty $20 Gold Double Eagle design. However, this image lacked the longevity and popularity of the Double Eagle. It was used from 1907 to 1916 and produced only irregularly after than until all gold coin production halted in 1933.
