Silver rounds are a popular choice among investors and collectors. Chautauqua Mints T.I.M.E. Series is a five-part series, each round exhibiting a unique design that represents failed attempts at controlling time. Today, the 1 oz Silver A Grain of Sand Rounds are available online from Provident Metals.
Highlights
The 1 oz Silver A Grain of Sand Rounds features a design that comments on the role of time in human civilization and life cycle of humans. The proof-like qualities show through in the high luster, frosted finishes, and mirrored background fields. The Silver A Grain of Sand is the second of five released in this program.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 1 oz Silver A Grain of Sand Rounds, you will find an hourglass design with intricate detail. A babys carriage sits on top of the hourglass, while grains of sand fall through the timekeeping device. At the bottom of the hourglass, sand falls from the open mouth of a human skull into an empty grave. It is thought that each grain of sand that passes into the grave, represents that much less time left in life. Engravings on the obverse include A GRAIN of SAND and AN INCREMENT OF SHARED TIME.
Reverse
You will find the mints bullseye logo on the reverse of these rounds. The atomic symbol for silver, Ag. sits in the center of the bullseye. Other engravings include Chautauqua Silverworks and One More Ounce-One Less Fetter as well as the rounds weight, purity, and metal content.
History
Chautauqua Silverworks was founded by Ron Kinney in Western New York in 2013. He started the mint as a retiree with a love of silver. Chautauqua works with North American Mint to produce and distribute the T.I.M.E. Series. The phrase One More Ounce-One Less Fetter was coined by Kinney, which he says means that with every ounce of silver someone requires, the more financial freedom they have.
