Obverse

The obverse side of the Silver 2022 Germania Round comes with an all-new depiction of Germania. This years portrayal includes the confident figure of Germania in left-profile relief. After a long journey at sea, as cataloged in the 2021 design, she has reached her destination and is setting foot on new land for the first time. As she disembarks, the double-headed eagle is flying by her side to watch for danger. Her Reichsshwert is drawn in her right hand and her left holds a shield with the double-headed eagle seal. Inscriptions on this side include GERMANIA, 2022, 1 OZ AG, and 999.9.

Reverse

On the reverse of 1 oz Silver Germania Rounds, you will see the seal of the Germania Mint. Based on the double-headed eagle of the Roman god Janus, guardian of passageways, the double-headed eagle has long been popular in imperial symbolism. The eagles two heads focus on the past and the future. In this design, the eagle clutches lightning bolts in its talons, with olive branches flanking the figure. The inscriptions include 5 MARK and GERMANIA.

History

There are several notable features of the Germania Series of rounds from the Germania Mint. While the new obverse designs each year are an obvious feature, as well as the variety of weight choices, a new feature added in 2021 is a little more subtle. The 1 oz, 2 oz, 10 oz, and 1 Kilo silver rounds in this series have an ever-widening view of the same design, with the narrowest focus present in the 1 oz round and the widest in the 1 Kilo round.
