KOMSCO has a growing stable of bullion products available to investors and collectors. While its major annual programs like Chiwoo Cheonwang and the Korean Tiger are already hits with collectors, other programs are starting to emerge in North American markets that have their own appeal. For example, the K-Series features taekwondo designs and is in just its second year of wide release after initially featuring in other markets. Provident Metals currently offers the 2020 South Korean Taekwondo 1 oz Silver Medal for purchase online.
When you purchase the 2020 South Korean Taekwondo 1 oz Silver Medal in this product listing, you will receive your medals packaged either individually or in mint tubes. The individual medals are housed inside of protective plastic flips, while the mint tubes contain a total of 25 medals. Each medal is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
On the obverse face of the 2020 South Korean Taekwondo 1 oz Silver Medal, you will find the Taegeuk. This is the official national symbol of the Republic of Korea and appears on the national flag with colors of red, white, black, and blue. In this design, it retains its brilliant silver appeal and has a swirling design element around it. The KOMSCO latent security image is featured within the yin-yang symbol that makes up the Taegeuk.
The reverse side of 2020 South Korean Taekwondo Silver Medals focuses on the martial art developed in South Korea. Taekwondo is a competitive sport in Korea and around the world and was developed relatively recently in the 1940s and 1950s. In this design element, the competitor delivers a heavy punch that appears to come right off the coin and at your face. This represents an excellent use of perspective in making the fist appear as though it is getting closer.
Taekwondo is popular in and outside of Korea. It was developed as a combination of karate, Chinese martial arts, and indigenous forms of martial arts from Korea that include Taekkyon, Subak, and Gwonbeop. Taekwondo was an official sport of the World Games from 1981 to 1993 and has been an Olympic sport since 2000.
